Many feel that (Swedish) folk music is most suited to the countryside, among pine forests and little red cottages. This is not the view of Hulling. All the members of this group come from and work in Stockholm and make their own music there: by cityfolk for cityfolk.
The group unashamedly help themselves to the rich treasures of folk music and make them into something entirely their own. It has always felt natural for them to take inspiration from far and near, mostly from Sweden but also from Norway, where the nyckelharpa has a cousin called the hardingfela.
The "Hårdhajen" CD shows a modern folk group constantly developing.
